Password Recovery

EventSale has password recovery for the accounts that use its portals. The recovery request is tied to the correct workspace and avatar so that a code from one event cannot be used to reset an account in another event.

Which password are you recovering?

• CaveTech account password: use the shared CaveTech login page. This is the password used by the event owner and internal workspace team to enter the private EventSale dashboard.
• Creator or creator-manager portal password: use Forgot your password? on the EventSale workspace portal. This is the password used to access a creator's area for one specific event.

The steps below describe the EventSale creator and creator-manager recovery flow. It is separate from the event owner's central CaveTech login.

Before you begin

Make sure you have:

• access to the EventSale workspace portal;
• the email address or Second Life avatar name used by the creator account;
• access to the same Second Life avatar; and
• the workspace's principal EventSale verification object available in Second Life.

Recovery process

Step 1: Open password recovery

1. Open the EventSale workspace portal.
2. Select Creator login or Forgot your password?.
3. Enter the account email address or Second Life avatar name.
4. Submit the recovery request.

EventSale keeps the public response neutral whether or not the account exists. This prevents someone from using the form to discover which email addresses belong to the event.

Step 2: Receive the verification code

For an active creator or creator-manager account, the workspace's main verification object receives a short-lived password-reset request and sends a code to the avatar in Second Life. Marketing servers and workers are not used for this operation.

The message includes the verification code and instructions for opening the reset page.

The code is valid for 15 minutes and can be used only once.

Step 3: Open the reset page

Open the reset link from the Second Life message in your browser. The link contains the short-lived recovery context for the correct EventSale workspace.

Do not share the link or code. If the link expires, return to the portal and request a new recovery message.

Step 4: Enter the verification code

Enter the code delivered to your avatar and continue.

The code is checked against the workspace and avatar that requested it. A code from another EventSale workspace cannot be used here.

Step 5: Create a new password

Enter a new password and confirm it. The new password must:

• have at least 8 characters;
• include an uppercase letter;
• include a number; and
• include a special character.

The new password must be different from the previous password.

Step 6: Complete the reset

Select Reset Password. EventSale verifies the one-time code, updates the password, and revokes existing sessions for that creator or creator-manager credential.

Step 7: Sign in again

Return to the EventSale workspace portal and sign in with the creator's email or avatar name and the new password. The old password and old active sessions are no longer valid.

Security rules

• Recovery codes expire after 15 minutes.
• Each code can be used only once.
• Recovery is isolated by EventSale workspace.
• Passwords and recovery codes are not written to audit logs.
• Recovery requests are rate limited.
• A successful reset revokes existing sessions for that credential.

If recovery does not work

1. Confirm the avatar is online in Second Life.
2. Check local chat and instant messages.
3. Request a new code if the old one expired.
4. Confirm that you are using the correct EventSale workspace portal.
5. Confirm that the workspace's principal verification object is connected.
6. If the problem continues, contact CaveTech Support with the workspace name and avatar name. Never send your password or recovery code.

After recovery, return to the Creator Portal or Initial Setup, depending on whether you are a creator or the event owner.
